Andrew McGlaughlin passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, leaving behind a loving family, devoted friends, teammates, classmates, coworkers, and a community deeply saddened by his loss. He was born on April 25, 2004, in Columbus, Ohio, and was 22 years old.

Andrew was a 2022 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School and continued his education at the University of Cincinnati, where he studied mechanical engineering. During several of his final semesters, he completed co-op work at Avient Corporation, gaining valuable professional experience as he prepared for his future career.

Outside of academics and professional pursuits, rugby was one of Andrew’s greatest passions. During junior high and high school, he played rugby with the Hilliard Bears. He later continued the sport at the University of Cincinnati, where he became an active member of the University of Cincinnati Rugby Football Club and served as its president at the time of his passing.

For Andrew, rugby was more than a sport. It provided opportunities to build friendships, work as part of a team, challenge himself, and share meaningful experiences with others. His teammates and fellow members of the rugby community will remember the dedication, leadership, and companionship he brought to the club.

Those who knew Andrew will remember him for his kindness and gentle spirit. He was someone who was willing to help when another person needed assistance. His willingness to be there for others reflected the generosity that was an important part of his character.

Andrew lived a life filled with love, laughter, and genuine happiness. He brought joy to the people around him and created memories that his family and friends will carry with them for years to come.

His family has also shared that Andrew experienced private mental-health struggles that were not always visible to those around him. They wish to honor the full picture of his life, including the happiness, love, friendship, achievements, and meaningful relationships he experienced, as well as the challenges he faced. Those struggles did not diminish the person he was or the love surrounding him.

Andrew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Allan Duhl; grandmother, Johanna Nimitz; and uncle, Patrick McGlaughlin.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Carrie McGlaughlin; grandmother, Lynda Duhl; siblings Tyler (Manda) Dixon and Jacob (Morgan) McGlaughlin; nephew and nieces Asher, Callie, and Hattie; and his longtime girlfriend, Ellie Heisler.

He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, teammates, classmates, coworkers, and friends, all of whom will carry memories of him in their hearts.

Family and friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, at Tidd Funeral Home, Plain City-Dublin Chapel, 9720 SR 161, Plain City, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15.

Andrew’s funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, following the morning visitation. He will be laid to rest at Forest Grove Cemetery in Plain City, Ohio.

Andrew’s life was far more than the circumstances of his passing. He was a son, brother, grandson, uncle, partner, student, teammate, coworker, and friend. He was a young man with ambitions, relationships, passions, and a future he was working toward.

His kindness, gentle nature, love of rugby, commitment to his education, and willingness to help others will remain important parts of the legacy he leaves behind.

Andrew McGlaughlin will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His family hopes that those remembering Andrew will carry forward the kindness and compassion he freely offered to others.

May Andrew rest in peace, and may his family, friends, teammates, classmates, and all who loved him find comfort in the many memories he leaves behind.
