The Wisconsin Rapids community is mourning the death of Jacob S. Stoflet, 16, who died following a two-vehicle crash in Saratoga, Wisconsin, on August 12, 2026.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the collision was reported at approximately 10:13 p.m. at the intersection of 80th Street and Townline Road.
Investigators reported that Stoflet was traveling east on Townline Road when his vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at 80th Street. His vehicle then collided with a pickup truck traveling south on 80th Street. The pickup was reportedly pulling a horse trailer at the time.
Jacob was the only person inside his vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead on August 13.
The pickup truck was reportedly driven by a 17-year-old from Pittsville. An 18-year-old woman from Marshfield and a 15-year-old girl from Pittsville were also passengers. All three were transported to Marshfield Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The crash brought a significant emergency response, with sheriff’s deputies, police officers, firefighters, first responders, ambulance crews, and medical flight personnel responding to the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision as they work to establish the complete sequence of events. Further information may be released as the investigation progresses.
